The idea
Farholm takes its name from the old Norse holm — a small island. The far holm is the one past the harbor mouth: a little harder to reach, and the reason you went. That's the trip we plan.
You bring the pull — a coastline, an anniversary, a rumor of a restaurant. We chart it into something real, book every piece of it, and stand watch until you're home.
Specialties
Ocean, expedition, and river. Every line, contemporary family ships through ultra-luxury — matched to your people, your pace, your budget.
More No planning feeEvery major chain and the independents worth knowing — the right room, loyalty numbers attached, extras when we can get them.
More No planning feeRoutings, cabins, and connections that respect your time — smart economy to lie-flat, ticketed and watched by us.
More No planning feeFrom a first sailing to a silver-anniversary crossing — every budget, every generation, the same care.
How it works
Leg 01 · Plot
Thirty minutes by phone. No forms first, no deposit. We ask about pace, people, and what a perfect Tuesday abroad looks like for you.
Leg 02 · Draft
You get a proposed passage: places, pacing, rooms, and the people we trust on the ground — with straight talk about seasons and costs.
Leg 03 · Refine
Swap the island, add the aunt, slow the middle week. Then we book and confirm every piece — flights, stays, guides, tables — under one plan.
Leg 04 · Underway
Questions before you go, changes while you're away — we can work the supplier side and advocate for you where possible. For urgent issues in the moment, the fastest line is always the supplier's own desk in your travel documents: they run the ship, the hotel, the gate.
Waters we know
Midnight sun, quiet harbors, saunas earned.
Ask about this route →Old ports and long lunches.
Ask about this route →Precision and stillness, ryokan to rail.
Ask about this route →The far end of the map.
Ask about this route →Weather with character, whisky with age.
Ask about this route →Barefoot, not basic.
Ask about this route →No two routes repeat. If your water isn't charted here, ask — that's the point of an agent.
Why an agent
Planning a serious trip is a part-time job. It's our full-time one. You approve; we execute.
Relationships with hotels, lines, and guides — upgrades when they're to be had, held space, and the asks that take a person to make.
When plans wobble, we know your whole booking and can work the supplier side where possible. For right-now emergencies, the supplier's desk in your documents is the fastest line — we pick up the pieces with you from there.
No planning fee for standard planning and booking — Farholm is paid by commissions from participating suppliers, typically after travel is completed.
Word of mouth
"Jake is a dream! Our bazillion (probably self explanatory) questions were answered both promptly and without me feeling silly for asking. He saved me HOURS of research and stress. Our vacation was seamless for the first time in years! 10/10, highly recommend and will use him again."
"We had the best trip to San Diego. Jake was incredible to work with in coordinating our flights, hotels and suggestions on places to visit. Our hotel was amazing and in a great location! So thankful for Jake and his agency for helping us have a trip that we will never forget!"
"I can't recommend Jake enough! He helped us plan an amazing cruise and a Universal Studios trip, and everything was smooth from start to finish. He was super friendly, quick to respond, and genuinely listened to what we wanted. The recommendations were spot-on, and the itinerary made the whole experience stress-free and fun. If you want someone who truly cares and plans details well, this is the place!"
The Jake in every quote is Farholm's founder and agent — the same one who answers 1-855-FARHOLM.
Fair questions
No. Standard travel planning and booking carries no planning fee — Farholm is compensated through commissions paid by participating travel suppliers, typically after travel is completed.
For most arrangements you pay the supplier — the cruise line, hotel, or airline — directly, never Farholm. And Farholm never asks for card numbers, passport images, or loyalty-account passwords through this website or ordinary email.
Greater Pittsburgh and the North Hills first — and clients across the United States, every state except Florida, Hawaii, and Washington.
